MINI Sikora Enduro MTB Series, 26-27 June 2021, ŚWIERADÓW-ZDRÓJ
Świeradów-Zdrój with its surroundings is a cycling paradise. In 2012, almost 80 km of Polish-Czech natural singletrack trails were opened here. They are located near the gondola in the Zajęcznik massif and around Czerniawska Kopa. The maximum gradient of the trails is 5%, width up to 80 cm. In addition, Swieradów's trails have been designed so that cycling enthusiasts can explore the town and admire the views. The marked routes will take you to many interesting and mysterious places.
There are many tourist attractions in the town, the most important of which include the gondola to Stóg Izerski, the tourist shelter on Stóg Izerski, Dom Zdrojowy with the longest larch gallery in Lower Silesia and a mineral water drinking hall, Czarci Młyn (Devil's Mill), the Nature 2000 Ecological Education Centre Izerska Łąka and the model of the Jizera Mountains Railway in Stacja Kultury (Station of Culture).
Tourist gems of Świeradów-Zdrój resort
Devil's Mill nad Jizera Meadow
The watermill in Świeradow-Zdrój, Czerniawa district, was built around 1890 and its basic equipment is original and dates from the period of its construction. The mill is a typical example of the buildings erected on the Silesian-Czech borderland. The machines and equipment in the mill are typical for farm mills from the turn of the 19th and 20th century. They were built in the so-called American system, in which the transport of grain was fully mechanised. The mill was driven by a water wheel with a diameter of 6.5 m until 1951. After that time the mill was driven by an electric motor.
The facility called the "Devil's Mill" is an open-air production museum, the so-called Bread Museum, where visitors can observe the old cycle of bread production in the workshops. In the Bread Room, you can see a 100-year-old bread oven, in which bread is occasionally baked to this day.
In the years 2010-2012, the entire facility underwent revitalisation as a result of the EU project "To see the landscape, to touch the past", which was taken care of by the owner - Świeradów-Zdrój Municipality. Today we invite you on a journey "from a grain to a loaf".
The mill is located on the Czart Meadow, which we create together with the "Izerska Łąka" (Jizera Meadow) Environmental Education Centre. It is a building located right above the mill. The lecture on the Jizera Mountains, the dark sky and insect life starts every full hour, and during the lecture you can see a star map of the sky over the Jizera Mountains, reproduced on the vault of the cinema hall.
The Station of Culture in Świeradów-Zdrój - the only such place in Poland
In the renovated building of the former railway station you can see a railway model showing fragments of the railway lines No. 317 and 336 from the years 1945-1970 on the route Gryfów Śląski - Mirsk - Świeradów-Zdrój - Świeradów Nadleśnictwo. The model, weighing almost 800 kg, was made in H0 scale, and the total length of the tracks is about 105 metres. On the layout you will see 5 locomotives and 2 motor wagons, 28 carriages, 40 switches, about 600 trees and bushes and 200 figures representing people and animals.
The Municipal Centre of Culture, Activity and Community Promotion "Culture Station" also has its premises here.
In front of the building, you can admire a steam locomotive Tp4-217. The locomotive was produced in 1918, in the German railway vehicle factory Borsig in Berlin. Locomotives of this type were produced between 1910 and 1922, and belonged to the most successful designs and most numerous series of steam locomotives operated on the Polish Railways. The locomotive is a museum exhibit entered in the Register of Movable Monuments of the Mazovian Voivodeship, and has inventory number MUZ I 54.
Impreza jest wspierana przez Urząd Miasta Świeradów-Zdrój oraz Stację Kultury.
Świeradów-Zdrój is a new addition to the Enduro MTB Series calendar. However, it is a well-known venue for enduro racing fans. In 2015, the Polish Enduro Championships were held here. This time the event will not have such a rank, but we can manage without Polish Cycling Associacion very well :) The potential of the local trails, as well as the character of the surface, will make sure this year's first event will satisfy the hunger for racing. The new classification dividing the participants into PRO and HOBBY groups will allow the stronger riders to compete fiercely and the less experienced ones to enjoy reaching the finish line. The event will also be an opportunity to test MINI cars and to get to know the most interesting enduro trails in the region together with local riders. The evening event, including the decoration of the winners and the prize draw, will be held at the Cottonina hotel.
